winter storm aftermath -- v-dot crews from hampton roads heading to help clean up the hardest hit areas. "so, just let us know what we need to do." re-96sa roads across the peninsula still slick in places -- one landmark building's roof collapsed from the storm -- and in the middle of the cold temperatures - nearly a dozen people are without a home because of an early morning apartment fire. we continue our winter weather coverage tonight at 6... these are live pictures from the roads across our area. a lot of the main roads are clear - but some of the secondary roads are

our dedicated team of journalists and meteorologists continue to follow the conditions outside...and the clean-up. we have crews from the south side up to mathews county. here's a shot from towercam 10 over downtown portsmouth and norfolk. the suns been out most of the day -- allowing that snow to melt quite a bit. the melting snow is helping vdot clear the roads in our area. most of the interstates are dry across hampton roads. but, crews will be working non-stop in other parts of the commonwealth to clean up the stormy mess. the melting can be both a positive and negative for us right now. meteorologist ashley baylor is in the super doppler 10 weather center to let us know what we're expecting the rest of the night. tonight: clear and cold. puddles may refreeze. lows: low-20s. winds: light nw. monday: mostly sunny. less wind. milder! highs: mid-40s. winds: light south. tuesday: mostly sunny. much warmer! highs: mid-50s. winds: s 5-15 mph. that pesky storm is now a distant should only see nuisance to minor tidal flooding during high tide at 9:55

help finding the person they say shot and killed a man last night. police found 42 year old leroy garer shot inside this car - on darnaby avenue just off shell road. police ask anyone with information to call the crime line. after 8 hours - the search for a man near hatteras island is called off. the coast guard's been looking for the 40-year-old man since saturday night at 11. crews found a boat they believe belong to the man. still ahead - flooding concerns - we'll show you

ben moreell community - didn't have natural gas saturday. that's a lincoln military housing complex near naval station norfolk. virginia natural gas came in to help with the problem. it was finally restored early this morning. crews are working to find out what caused the leak. another update to pass along to you. the jamestown-scotland ferry in surry is back in business. service was suspended because of safety issues crossing the james river last night. snow isn't the only issue people dealt with from the storm. it also caused flooding along the beaches in northern kitty hawk -- near the avalon pier. these pictures from black pelican road sent into wavy through report it. just to put these pictures into perspective for you - the hill is about 14 feet about sea level. don't forget - you can send you weather pictures to our newsroom through the report it feature. all you have to do it email the pictures to report it at wavy dot com. if you're over in ghent - you probably saw flooding at the hague. the water at one point so high - it covered areas where people are usually

cameras caught this video earlier this afternoon. a couple of roads in that area were shut down while the water was high. the inclement weather is causing some major issues for people flying from norfolk international airport. this is a live look from the airport's website - there are still some delays and cancellations you should be aware of. so make sure you check your flight's status before your flight. chopper 10 was flying high today - getting pictures of the aftermath from the winter storm. this video shows a few snowy roads in parts of the peninsula earlier this afternoon. these are aerial shots over williamsburg and james city county. and here's some video from above the h-r-b- t. the aftermath of the

portsmouth city crews are continuing to work around the clock to make sure roads stay safe.

any storm- related problems. city officials warn drivers to be safe - especially with the chance for icy spots overnight into the morning. virginia beach is also working hard to clean up from the storm. these are pictures sent into our newsroom near indian river and elbow roads. the roads so slick there earlier today, several cars slid off the streets. if you have any pictures of conditions where you live - send them to us using our report it feature on our website or our wavy 10 app. suffolk is addressing slick areas. they sent an update saying most primary roads are clear and passable. crews are still working 12-hour shifts. since friday suffolk police responded to 104 car accidents because of the weather. the suffolk executive airport is still closed because of icing on the runways. officials in chesapeake are now concerned about flooding. the city's website says people in low- lying

millions of americans are digging out from this historic winter storm. thousands stranded at airports across the mid atlantic and northeast. we've mentioned deflategate before when it comes to the n-f-l. but this time it has a different meaning. the blizzard that buried washington, d-c this weekend caused the indoor training facility for the redskins to deflate. the weight of the snow was just too much and knocked the air-filled dome down. there are no reports of injuries or how many people may have been inside when it deflated. that area got about 34-inches of snow. according to redskins-dot-com... the facility will be re-inflated when the snow is removed and conditions improve. that wasn't the only place with problems. 67 people had to be evacuated from an apartment building in manassas early this morning when roofs collapsed from the heavy snow. fire and rescue crews

shortly after midnight. they found one roof had partially collapsed another was showing signs of caving in. the red cross is assisting the people displaced by setting up a shelter at a local fire department. no one was hurt. the deep snow in the washington, d-c area made it tough for firefighters battling a house fire. firefighters called to this fire in springfield, virginia - when they got there they had to search for a fire hydrant in the snow and then dig it out before they could get water to fight the fire. area fire departments have been urging residents to dig out the fire hydrants in their neighborhoods to avoid a situation like this. this was a two-alarm fire. back in hampton roads - a lot of the snow has melted because of the sun. 10 on your side's joe fisher continues to check road conditions around the area - he's live now with the update. tonight: clear and cold. puddles may refreeze. lows: low-20s. winds: light nw. monday: mostly sunny.
